Do you have sensitive skin problems and suffer from unpleasant reactions to chemicals in hair colouring products which contain PPD and other nasty substances?
Paraphenylenediamine (PPD) is a chemical substance that is used in permanent hair colouring dyes. This substance can cause allergic reactions which can be anything from mild to very severe, and in some cases require hospital treatment.
PPD is used in chemical hair dyes to give a permanent or longer lasting colour which won't fade when shampooed. Dye containing PPD is sold in 2 bottles which require mixing, one bottle contains a developer which is the oxidizer, and the other is the PPD dye mix. PPD is colourless and needs oxygen for it to become coloured, it is the intermediate, partially oxidised state that may cause anyone with an allergy or sensitivity issues to have a reaction. These dyes usually have a very strong and quite unpleasant chemical smell caused by the Ammonia.
All of our henna hair colouring products are completely natural and DO NOT contain harmful substances like PPD or Ammonia. Henna dye is the best alternative for hair colouring if you suffer from allergic reactions to chemicals, or if you just want to have a chemical free product which will leave your hair in beautiful condition. Henna hair products are actually proven to repair damage to hair caused from chemical dying.
Henna hair colour is still not very well known as an alternative to chemical dyes and the fact that it is available in a ready-to-use cream which is easier to apply than chemical dyes is also little known. The henna cream comes in one bottle, no mixing; just apply straight to your hair, wait approximately 1 hour normally, but longer if you have the time (the longer the better), the best way to rinse off the colour is by wetting the hair then massaging your hair and scalp, as if you were shampooing, paying special attention to the hairline. This will emulsify the colour and remove the majority of any staining to your scalp/hairline. Afterwards give the hair a really good rinse, there is no need to condition as the henna dye is a natural conditioner and will leave your hair feeling soft.
If you do prefer the henna powder version, simply mix the powder with water the night before, leaving it overnight gives the mixture time to blend. A tip is to add 1 egg yolk (yolk only) for texture and easier application. The egg yolk will help the mixture bind together better, then just apply to your hair. A good tip is to wrap a double layer of cling film around your head; this creates heat and helps the colour to take, when the colour is ready rinse as above.
